15 Jun “Friends”
My dear friend, Carol, sent me a card recently that said “Friends are like flowers … they bring a smile to your face”. So true! By June the hard winter is over, friends gather, neighbors visit in their yards, travel commences, celebrations happen and flowers emerge. Friends and flowers both, are in glorious full “bloom”.
I don’t paint portraits of people but my “Life Cycle” series of flowers reflects my inspiration from loved ones, friends and family. This lovely Iris in my garden, also from Carol, makes me smile for sure. More than that, it is inspiration for painting because it holds the deeper meaning of a special friendship that multiplies over the years and it is this symbolism that propels my inspiration into action. (A little less gathering, traveling, and celebrating and I might actually get to painting this gem)! In the meantime, I greet “Pink Iris” in the morning and just smile! Artist or not, everyone can feel the inspiration from things that make you smile. Enjoy, Kathleen
